In this first collection of non-fiction writing she has done over thirty years, Katherine Anne Porter draws a remarkable self-portrait in terms of her public beliefs and private enthusiasms, her real life and the life of her imagine. Of the 33 pieces include, the earliest are the Mexican writings, dating from 1921. (This book) also contains her most recent statements, such as "The Future Is Now," which sum up her point of view as a writer and a dedicated individual in the atomic age. The essays on writers and writing range from a beautiful examination of of the childhood and family life of Henry James, to the brilliantly witty dissection of Gertrude Stein." Jacket has some overall wear with chipped heel of spine; spine underneath jacket is sunned; bumped head and heel of spine; two small tacky areas on fep where stickers were removed. . First. Cloth.
