First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 150pp. Yellow cloth lettered in black at the spine with a black-stamped Bawden decoration to the upper board. Bawden contributes a frontispiece and ten full-page drawings. Just a touch of tanning to the slightly lesser quality wartime economy paperstock. Times Book Club inkstamp to the base of the rear endpaper. A very good copy in price-clipped dust wrapper reproducing in red one of the Bawden drawings, the wrapper tanned at the spine panel, rubbed with several tiny fractions of loss from the spine panel ends, lightly marked at the rear panel and creased at the upper edge..
