New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1935. 8vo, (xii), 304 pp. Original brown cloth ruled and titled in gilt, backstrip bears a sun-faded ghost of dust-jacket's lettering and the cloth is sunned along the very edge of the crown and foot; a little old tape residue on the front free endpaper; rear endpapers toned, internally a fine clean copy. In the original dust-jacket, price $2.50 unclipped, professionally restored and conserved. § First edition, first printing with Scribner's seal and "A" on copyright page and "rer" instead of "her" on page 59, line 21. Wolfe's only collection of short stories, including "Death the Proud Brother," "Only the Dead Know Brooklyn," "The Four Lost Men," and "The Web of Earth”.
