The dust jacket is lightly rubbed & chipped and the inner edges of its flaps are darkened. There is some minor soiling to its rear panel. Half-title, title, [2] leaves & 237 pages. Good.. <p>First edition [precedes the English edition].<p>A story of India, based on historical fact, by a British author who was born in Calcutta and spent fourteen years in the Indian army. The novel tells of a British civil servant in early nineteenth century India trying to uncover the secrets of a destructive religious cult.
