Bologna: Benedictus Hectoris, 1497. Early Edition. Hardcover (Vellum). Very Good Condition. Attractively rebound in a ca. 15th century parchment manuscript leaf. The first part, complete unto itself, of a two part incunabula first published in 1497. The second part, not present, is a political tract entitled De optimo statu et principe. The Declamatio is a dialogue between a philosopher, a physician, and an orator each arguing the primacy of their profession. In a 1/4 morocco slipcase and chemise. 12 (of 40 in the two part work) leaves. With a 1497 date in the colophon unchanged from the first edition, but thought to possibly be printed after 1500.
