This is not in some ways a conventional school history. It tells the story of Melbourne's Camberwell Church of England Grammar School, certainly. It traces its growth from a school of some 60 boys in borrowed premises in 1886 to a school over a thousand boys in its own handsome grounds in 1986. But this history does not pretend that Camberwell Grammar School was the only school in Melbourne. Or that the world did not exist outside of the school grounds and history.
