Sobre este artículo
IDB Productions, 2017-01-01. MP3 CD. New. Finding solitude in a world of serenity is something every single person would want to have. Finding inner peace is one of the most satisfying feeling because majority of us experience dark, cloudy days and we long for a quiet place to ponder on and release all our tensions and hard feelings brought by the furious world.

James Weldon Johnson was an American writer, professor, barrister, diplomat, song composer, and civil rights activist. James is mostly commemorated for his leadership of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People(NAACP), where he began working in 1917. In 1920, he was the first African American to be appointed as executive secretary of the organization, meritoriously the operating officer. He worked in that position from 1920 to 1930. James founded his repute as an author, and was famous throughout the Harlem Renaissance for his verse, novels, and anthologies compiling both poems and devotionals of black culture.

He was assigned under President Theodore Roosevelt as a United States consul in Venezuela and Nicaragua for a maximum time between 1906 - 1913. In 1934, he was the first African-American educator to work in New York University. In the later part of his life, he became an instructor of artistic literature and drafting at Fisk University.

James was born in Jacksonville, Florida, to Helen Louise Dillet, a local of Nassau, Bahamas, and James Johnson. His great-grandmother from the mother side, Hester Argo, had fled from Saint-Domingue at the revolutionary cataclysm in 1802, together with her three little children, as well as James's grandfather Stephen Dillet. Though, their first plan was to travel to Cuba, their ship was seized by privateers and they were brought to Nassau, Bahamas, where they continually resided. In 1833, Stephen Dillet became the first man of color to be elected to the Bahamian legislature based on James Weldon Johnson, Along this Way, his autobiography.
