Celebrated tragic wat poet Rupert Brooke's essay on democracy and the arts, bright first trade edition complete with unclipped dust wrapper. Essay by Rupert Brooke, English tragic poet known for his idealistic and war sonnets. He was a prominent literary figure of his time, friend with numerous members of the Bloomsbury group and a member himself of literary groups with Robert Frost and Edward Thomas among others. The first trade edition of this essay discussing the issue of the creative artist under socialism, originally written in 1910 and delivered to the University Fabian Society when Brooke was an undergraduate at King's College. Complete with unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely. Small minor bookseller sticker to front pastedown. Dust wrapper sound with some shelf wear, chipped to head and tail and extremities of wraps, age toning to spine. Internally, firmly bound. Light cockling of leaves, as usual due to type of paper used. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
