Charles Bertram was an 18th-century English historian best-remembered for his landmark book 'Description of Britain'. This book, based on the manuscripts and letters of 14th-century Benedictine monk Richard of Westminster (Cirencester), was the authoritative work on the history of England for decades.
This 1809 English edition was translated by Henry Hatcher and includes the commentary of Thomas Leman (per the BMC). It features editions of the maps in the style of the original 1750s maps.
