This collection of rare primary documents provides graphic evidence of the destruction of California Indians during this period." Includes bw photos of several of the Native Americans. Contents include early records, conditions of the Indians, troop actions against the Indians, reservation matters, proposals for Indian protection and welfare, indenture, kidnapping and sale of Indians, massacres, scalping of Indians, disease, liquor and sexual exploitation of Indian women, Indian mistreatment of Chinese; Indians and the white man's law; indians as the butt of jokes.
