In 1970, Irving and his British publisher were successfully sued by the officer on whom Irving pinned much of the blame for the failure; the book was withdrawn, but later reissued with revisions. The author, once a respected historian, went on to further controversy. First American edition, stated; hardcover in jacket, as pictured. Light wear to book & jacket, but with a waterstain affecting the lower boards, mostly the rear, staining the jacket, but having little effect on the book.
