Profusely illustrated by Evgenii Charushin - an acclaimed Russian artist and a prolific children's books illustrator. The author, Samuil Marshak, was proclaimed by Maxim Gorky to be "the founder of Russia's children's literature." He was also a talented translator among whose beautiful translations were those of Shakespeare, Robert Burns, and Rudyard Kipling.
