Hardcover first edition with dust jacket, published by Pantheon, 2009. Historical fiction set during the American Civil War, about Nathan Bedford Forrest, the most reviled and also celebrated of Confederate generals. 355 pages, including an extensive Chronology of the life of Forrest. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Edges of the text block are clean. Slate gray boards with the title and author name imprinted in gold on the spine. Boards are flat, and the corners are not bumped or creased, no edge wear to the boards. Binding is tight and square. This copy is not a remainder, not a library discard. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory, not a stock photo.
Sinopsis
Madison Smartt Bell is the author of fourteen previous works of fiction, including Soldier’s Joy and Anything Goes . He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and grew up collecting bullets on the same fields where many of Forrest’s battles were fought. He now lives in Baltimore, where he has taught at Goucher College since 1984.
