Doubleday, New York, 1981. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Poor. acknowledgements. 1/4 blue coloured cloth spine and 3/4 darker blue boards with gilt writing on the spine. Illustrated dust wrapper showing, a wake of a ship, with colour titles to the front panel and black on the spine. The story of the USS Indianapolis, the naval ship that transported the first atom bomb from America to Hawaii. "A novel about treachery, heroism, sharks, and The Bomb.". Bumping to the head to the heel of the spine and to the corners of the book. Insect activity has caused underlying board to be visible on the lower edges of the book, to the top edges of the book and to the top left-hand corner of the spine. The panels are marked and rubbed. The bottom paper edge has been sprayed with purple remainder mark. Grubby marks to the endpapers. The dust wrapper is in the hideous shape. It is rubbed, faded and sunned. There is chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the top and bottom dustwrapper edges with loss. There is a tear to the top rear spine gutter measuring 1". Grubby marks have also occurred to the dust wrapper. Some foxing has also occurred to the verso of the dustwrapper. This is the First USA Edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 328 pages,.
