Sobre este artículo
London: H. Fisher, R. Fisher, & P. Jackson, 1832 Hard cover, quarto, (measuring 8 1/2 x 11 inches) three quarter calf, with gilt title to spine. 2 books in 1, 106 pp, and 48 pp. 74 full page steel engraved plates, including both maps, and the two vignette title pages with views of Lydford Cascade and Logan Rock. All edges gilt. If you are a fan of PBS's Doc Martin or Poldark, or planning a trip to this area, you will appreciate this material. The topographical and historical essays alongside the views are quite interesting. The artist Thomas Allom (1804-1872), architect, artist and illustrator, was a founding member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and worked on the mid nineteenth century rebuilding of the Houses of Parliament with Sir Charles Barry. William Henry Bartlett was Allom's apprentice and had his own success as illustrator of topographical views in North America, and the Middle East. Condition Good. Exterior with stains, rubbing and scuffs and some loss to head of spine. Both hinges reinforced with bookbinder's tape. Some soiling and intermittent light foxing to endpapers and some plates, along with some browning. Lacking most tissue guards.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good. Illus. by Thomas Allom.
