This manual supersedes DIA Manual 65-18, 29 September 1972. The purpose of this document is to promulgate data elements and related features to be used in automated and data systems for identifying locations or areas. The data elements have been developed by the DIA within the parameters of the Department of Defense Data Standardization Program established by DoD Directive 5000.11 under the authority of the Assigned Responsible Agency (ARA) for the standardization of geopolitical data elements and related features.
