Essay delivered before the literary societies of Geneva College on the progress of American civilization and development of material wealth for only parts of the society.  The privilege offered to scholars and the educated population require a responsibility to those that have not shared in prosperity.  "If this be so, the problem is not to arrest the physical growth of the country, but to make it the means of more perfectly unfolding our proper humanity, by the culture of the elements of spiritual life.".

Since retirement he has begun bookselling once again and is again a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers. He is also a member of the Grolier Club, NY, the Association Internationale de Bibliophile, Paris, and the Print Council of America.
