London and New York: Macmillan, 1896. 1st Reprint (1st-1894) . Red Cloth. Fine for Age/No Jacket (none issued). 13 Cm x 18.00 Cm. xv+388+(2, pub.'s Eversley Series list); internally pristine in all respects as seems to be completely unopened, slight hint of dustiness to top edge; covers clean and unworn bar tiniest hints of rubbing to bottom spine and outer corners, three small and trivial slight cloth blisters to front. An unusually good copy of one of the less common titles in the Huxley Essays series. Includes the classic 1868 'On a piece of chalk', 'On some of the results of the expedition of H.M.S. "Challenger" (1875), 'A lobster: or, the study of zoology', and 'Palaeontology and the doctrine of evolution' (1870), 11 essays in all.
