Full brown leather, 12mo, ix, (1) errata, 121 pp. Presentation copy, with "To Mr. John Chambers, from his friend, the Author." written in ink on the front paste-down. Scarce theological work by James Gray (1770-1824) a native of Ireland who graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1793 and immigrated to the United States in 1797. He was minister at the Associate Reformed Church in Philadelphia beginning in 1803. This work printed by Jane Aitken at No, 71 North Third Street, Philadelphia. Aitken (1764-1832) was an early American printer who came to America from Scotland in 1771. When her father died in 1802, she took over his printing and binding business. No marks in book, binding tight. Covers show light edge wear, both joints cracking but binding solid. Some chipping bottom half of spine. Book condition VG.
