From jacket: "Dr. Edwin Presley Hall typifies the successful physician's dedication and opportunities. From jail physician to ship's surgeon; from coal mine doctor to army medical officer; from veterans hospital chief surgeon to private practice; his medical career has spanned a full life and encompasses much of the world... The Alabama native is the son of an early 'doctor on horseback' in Albertville... The reader surveys the life of a young intern and resident physician as Dr. Hall recounts his experiences at Louisiana State Charity Hospital at Shreveport and at hospitals in Vicksburg, Mississippi; Washington, DC and New York City... (and in) the army during World War II, serving in North Africa, Italy and Germany." Dr. Hall died in 2002. Jacket is rubbed and has some wear and a couple of quarter inch tears; slightly bumped corners under jacket; inside front cover, fep and following blank page are discolored, perhaps from a now-gone piece of newsprint.
