A Dog's Purpose is a 2010 novel by humorist W. Bruce Cameron. The story of a dog, born feral, then reincarnated into multiple breeds over multiple lives and living with numerous owners, is a story of loyalty and unconditional love epitomized by the relationship dogs have with humans. The novel spent nearly a year on the New York Times best-seller list, and has been made into a movie. A sequel, the Dog's Journey, was published in 2012, and a Christmas book The Dogs of Christmas was released in 2013. A film of the same name, with a script written by the author and his wife, Cathryn Michon , was released in 2017.

I'm a school librarian and I would recommend this book to 5th grade and above. It was excellent! It will make you laugh and cry. This book is told from the view point of a dog and will draw you into his journey. A must for any library!

More Than Words began as an online bookselling training program for youth in DCF custody in 2004 and opened its vibrant bookstore on Moody St in Waltham in 2005 and added its Starbucks coffee bar in 2008. MTW replicated its model in the South End of Boston in 2011, thereby doubling the number of youth served annually.
