Sobre este artículo
Minneapolis, MN: Filiquarian Publishing, 2007. Soft cover. New/None as Issued. Text/NEW & Bright. Softcover/Fine. 3-act play by Norwegian playwright, theatre director & poet, Henrik Johan Ibsen (1828 - 1906). First published Dec.1879, the play premiered at the Royal Theatre, Copenhagen, Denmark in the same month. A critique of 19th century marriage norms, the play was highly controversial. It is the story of Nora, who leaves husband & children to discover herself. Ibsen was inspired by the belief that "a woman cannot be herself in modern society," as it is "an exclusively male society, with laws made by men and with prosecutors & judges who assess feminine conduct from the masculine standpoint. However, it was not meant to advocate feminist rights for in a 1898 speech addressing the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights in 1898, Ibsen insisted that he "must disclaim the honor of having consciously worked for the women's rights movement," for he wrote "without any conscious thought of making propaganda", but with the interest of offering a "description of humanity".
