Illustrated by Arthur Rackham with a monochrome frontispiece and three plates. Collated complete. This work was written by Anthony Hope, a British novelist and playwright best known for his work 'The Prisoner of Zenda' and its sequel. This work features the fictional character Dolly Foster and her many stories, and provides a picture of the end of the Victorian era. This is also the first work to be fully illustrated by the noted Arthur Rackham, who is regarded to be one of the most important book illustrators of this era. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally generally smart with marks to the boards, fading to the spine, rubbing to the extremities and joints resulting in wear and very minor closed tears to the head and tail of the spine and bumping to the extremities. Small label to the front pastedown with very minimal offsetting to the free endpapers. Rear hinge starting and front hinge starting after the frontispiece. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned and clean pages. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
