Pages are browning as is common with Whitman editions. Some water staining to some of the rear pages near the spine. Does not deform the book and does not detract from the text. Book has some scuffing and wear, mainly to rear board. Front artwork has only minimal rubbing. Corners have minimal wear as well. Spine head and heel have moderate wear/chipping. Exterior back hinge has about a one inch section where the paper has torn and has exposed the webbing underneath. The interior hinges are in good shape except for about a one inch tear in the paper on the rear hinge. Cover is firmly attached to the book, but as with all Whitman books, care is suggested - ;-).
