Sobre este artículo
New York: Triangle Books, 1944. Book. Illus. by W. Deffaa (dust jacket illustration). Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Triangle edition.. Small octavo. A classic in the horror/speculative fiction field, this one tells the story of a young doctor who has managed to keep a monkey's brain alive after taking it from the creature's skull, leading him to believe that he might be able to do the same with a human brain. When the opportunity arises in the form of a ruthless businessman whose plane crashes near the doctor's mountain cabin, resulting in soon-to-be-fatal injuries, the doctor removes the businessman's brain in order to continue what could be the greatest surgical achievement in human history. But soon enough we have healthy doses of suspense and a mounting unease leading inexorably to terror. The basis for three different films: The Lady and the Monster, Donovan's Brain, and The Brain, released in 1944, '53 and '62, respectively. Blue cloth w/black spine lettering/decorations, 234 pages. Gently bumped spine ends, a hint of corner wear, some light spotting to covers, the usual tanned/dusty Triangle edges, previous owner's name neatly across first end paper, in dust jacket w/a bit of chipping to corners/spine ends, three short (3/4" or less) tears to bottom edge. Jacket now in protective mylar sleeve. All in all a reasonably decent copy of a fairly fragile item..
