London: Cassell & Co., 1911. Book. Fair. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Original maroon cloth, with title and illustration in cream on front board, lettered in gilt on spine. Spine heavily sunned to pale brown, lightly marked on board edges, contents clean and tight a good reading copy. The first of Oppenheim's books about "Peter Ruff, Esquire, of Aynesford Manor, in the County of Somerset", and his involvement in international espionage. Published in the USA as Recalled by Double Four, but the American editions of this and the following book seems to have some stories transposed (and retitled).
