Exhibition catalogue; presents the famous doulamas, a rare garment worn in the Western Balkans during the Ottoman Era; it presents interesting variants from place to place.
The book analyzes the various versions of the terminology, the traces, the materials and the decoration, and ultimately suggests new ways of using it in fashion and theater, which has already been made in many performances by the National Theater of Greece, the Theater of Northern Greece, and the Thessalian Theater.
As for fashion, a first attempt has already been made when, on the occasion of the participation of I. Papantoniou at the ICOM Costume Committee 2017 meeting in London, an experimental exhibition based on the doulamas and the pirpiri (the female form of the doulamas) was proposed to some Greek designers; also, the Dries van Noten Inspirations, presented at MoMu in Antwerp (2015), were also based on the doulamas.
