First US Photoplay Edition from 1932, illustrated with scenes from the Paramount Picture of 1931 directed by Rouben Mamoulian and starring Fredric March (as Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde), Miriam Hopkins as the prostitute Ivy Pearson and Rose Hobart (as Muriel Carew). The true first photoplay edition of this horror-themed novel by Stevenson. An uncommon photoplay. Illustrated with seven scenes from the film. Bound in original dark blue cloth with red lettering on spine and blue lettering with red background on the front cover. A VG+ copy in like D/W with slight loss at the head of the spine not affecting the lettering.
Sinopsis
Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a novella written by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson and first published in 1886. It is about a London lawyer who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr Henry Jekyll, and the misanthropic Mr Hyde. The work is known for its vivid portrayal of a split personality, split in the sense that within the same person there is both an apparently good and an evil personality each being quite distinct from the other.
