Sobre este artículo

Claitor's Pub. Division, 1976. Hardcover. Good/Good. 0x0x0. In English and French. 1976 Claitor's Pub. Division (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), oblong 11 3/8 x 8 7/8 inches tall black cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, gilt lettering to front cover and spine, copiously illustrated with the artist's black-and-white drawings, 89 pp. Very slight soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers. Names of three contemporary jazz musicians (who likely played as a trio in New Orleans) in ink on the blank front free-endpaper. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a soiled, rubbed and edgeworn dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. ~GG~ [2.0P] The author/illustrator, Ben Earl Looney (1904-1981) is a great Louisiana story. He founded the Louisiana State University Art Department. He was elected to the Board of Control of the Art Students' League. He also taught art near Boston and lived in New York City for 9 years. However, most of his life was spent in the South, primarily Louisiana. He painted nearly every plantation home in Louisiana that was standing from 1940-1970. He painted numerous large oil murals for various dignitaries and clientele, including the Ford Motor Company. But his favorite medium was watercolor. Most of his watercolors are textbook examples on form and style. His subjects were usually landscapes and his work is impeccable
