Signed limited large paper edition of this collection of short stories by the author of THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS, one of only 275 copies signed by Grahame and Shepard. THE DREAM DAYS contains Grahame's most famous work outside THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS: the short story "The Reluctant Dragon," an alternate version of the classic St. George and the dragon story which paved the way for 20th-century English fantasies depicting dragons as friendly, rather than hostile. It was later adapted into a Disney film in 1941. A beautiful copy. 8.5'' x 5.5''. Original quarter vellum, marbled paper boards. Top edge gilt, fore-edge deckle. Illustrated in black and white. xii, 168 pages. Signed by Grahame and Shepard to limitation page, numbered 201. Contemporary bookseller ticket of W. & G. Foyle Ltd. at 119-125 Charing Cross Road on rear pastedown. In original slipcase with printed paper spine label with inked number matching the number on the limitation page. Box with light edgewear. Sharp.
