A first edition of this delightful work for children, describing an exciting imaginary journey. Written and illustrated by Harold Robert Millar (1869-1942) a Scottish illustrator best known for his children's literature and fantasy works. He had an important working relationship with E. Nesbit, author of 'The Railway Children' and 'Five Children and It'.With colour plates and sketches through the text. A first edition of this delightful work for children. In a quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally a trifle worn, with wear to the edges and to the head and tail of the spine. Ownership inscription to the verso of the title page. Internally, binding is tender, with the front hinge rather strained, and some straining throughout. Pages have a few marks, but are generally bright and clean. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
