Sobre este artículo
East Aurora, New York: Elbert Hubbard, The Roycroft, 1901. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. First edition thus. Schreiner (1855-1920) is best known today for her novel The Story of an African Farm (1883) and for the groundbreaking feminist theory of Woman and Labour (1911). However, this collection of allegories enjoyed tremendous popularity on publication (1890) when it was acclaimed for both aestheticism and feminism (it was a favorite for imprisoned suffragettes), and went through 25 editions in 40 years, including this exquisite presentation. The initials, borders, and ornaments were designed by Saint Gerome. Printed under the supervision of Andrew Andrews. Small quarto. Original paper-covered boards over a light brown suede spine, with a gilt-stamped dark brown leather spine label and a ribbon marker. Small bit of wear to the bottom corners. A very good or better copy in the uncommon dust jacket.
