First published in Spanish as El Hacedor (The Maker) as the 9th vol. in his Obras Completas. While a visiting professor at Univ. of Texas, he was persuaded by staff and students to publish it in English, followed by this publication by Souvenir Press. Mildred Boyer translated Part 1, Harold Moreland Part II. Several of Frasconi's woodcuts grace this edition, with a 2 page red & black tiger on title and at intro to each Part.
