[1874] First English Edition (originally published in French in 1837 under the title Contes Drolatiques). xxxii, 652pp. Illustrated with 424 engravings, most in text and some full page. A handsome volume, bound in black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Upper edge of text block coloured. Deckled fore-edges. Lightly rubbed at edges of boards and mild scratch mark on rear. Internally clean, crisp and bright, barring very occasional mild smudges.
