Sobre este artículo
Nice condition vintage copy of "DRUNKARD" by Emile Zola with its original dust jacket. 1958; The Citadel Press; New York. New translation. From the dust jacket: "[The book] tells the story of the marriage of Coupeau and Gervaise and the birth of their daughter Nana (to whom another outstanding novel in the series is devoted). This simple plot enables Zola to give full rein to his talent for the portrayal of character and environment. As no other writer he has re-created the pullulating atmosphere of the Parisian slums in all their grandeur and horror, such as not even Dickens could ever have achieved. More than that, in Coupeau and Gervaise he has created a working-class hero and heroine, who, for all their human weaknesses can stand comparison with any of the masterpieces of character portrayal in the world's literature."
Condition:
Clean covers and spine. Sharp cover corners. Bright gilt lettering on the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the text pages are very lightly age-toned, and clean with only a small tear at the lower-inner corner of page 40...the pages appear unread. Some very light tanning to the end papers and pastedowns from the jacket flaps. Overall the book is in Near Fine condition. The dust jacket is un-clipped with the original price intact on the front flap; some very light soiling to the back cover; light tanning along the edges of the flaps; small tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine, and at the flap corners...overall the jacket is in Very Good condition. (The dust jacket comes with a clear, plastic sleeve - not shown.)
