Sobre este artículo
New York: Scribner, Publishers, 2008. Stated at copyright: First Scribner Hardcover Edition, January, 2008. Navy boards, black textured spine wrap, bronze stamped spine titles, moderate shelf wear. Pages fine. Dj moderate edge wear; protected in new clear sleeve. Tale of a man who discovers an incredible talent for painting after a freak accident in which he loses an arm. He moves to a 'new life' in Duma Key, off Florida's West Coast; a deserted strip, part beach, part weed-tangled, owned by a patroness of the arts whose twin sisters went missing in the 1920's. Duma Key is where out-of-season hurricanes tear lives apart and a powerful undertow lures tormented souls. Here Freemantle is inspired to paint the amazing sunsets. But soon the paintings become predictive. Freemantle knows the only way forward is to discover what happened to the twin sisters - and what the secret of the strange old lady who holds the key. No more than a line on a page... but also a slot for darkness to pour through. A terrible accident takes Edgar's arm and scrambles his mind, left with little but rage as he begins the ordeal. When his marriage suddenly ends, Edgar begins to wish he hadn't survived. His psychologist suggests a life distant from the Twin Cities, along with something else: "Edgar, does anything make you happy?" "I used to sketch." "Take it up again. You need hedges...hedges against the night." Edgar leaves for Duma Key, an eerily undeveloped splinter of the Florida coast. The sun setting into the Gulf calls out, and he draws. Once he meets Elizabeth Eastlake, an old woman with roots tangled in Duma Key, Edgar begins to paint, sometimes feverishly; many have a power that cannot be controlled. When Elizabeth's life unfolds and the ghosts of her childhood appear, the damage they are capable of is devastating. Stephen King composes a novel as fascinating and gripping as terrifying. 611 pages. Insured post. 611 pages.. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.

When I think of Stephen King, I think horror and sleepless nights. Imagine my surprise to discover his latest novel is actually a memoir – not that of the masterful storyteller, but of a simple Minnesota construction worker who is, shall we say, a little down on his luck. Okay, maybe it’s not a true story, but I feel so connected to the characters, they must exist somewhere. Edgar Freemantle, or “Eddie” as I now think of him, lost his right arm in a construction accident and his marriage ends. Instead of giving up on life as he originally intended, he takes his psychologist’s advice of a “geographic cure” and rents a house on Duma Key off the Florida Coast.
