London: Jonathan Cape, 1984. PROOF COPY from Pulitzer Prize winner Jane Smiley. Octavo, pp.305. Bound in soft red card covers with title, author's name, dimensions, and publishing details to front. Repeated logo of Jonathan Cape publishers, and 'uncorrected proof' repeated in a band across front and rear of book. Covers are reasonably well preserved, with some creasing at corners where the colour has been rubbed away, spine shows general shelf wear including creasing along the length of the covers near spine, some small dark patches to front, colour is fading through use most noticeably at rear, text block a little darkened along top and tail edge with some faint spotting to fore edge, complimentary slip from Republican Press London addressed to Jolande Johne stapled to flyleaf, with one small chip and creasing to slip, very clean internally. The uncorrected proof of a wonderful murder mystery from author Jane Smiley.

Sinopsis

Jane Smiley is the Pulitzer Prize—winning author of A Thousand Acres and more than ten other works of fiction, including Horse Heaven , Moo , and The Greenlanders . In 2001 she was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She lives in northern California.
