Sinopsis

Hosseini’s first novel takes place in Afghanistan and spans over several decades. The story follows the life of Amir, a young boy from a wealthy family, and his friend Hassan, the son of his father's servant. Despite their different social backgrounds, the two boys have a close friendship and bond over their love for kite fighting. However, after witnessing a traumatic event, Amir betrays Hassan, causing their friendship to fall apart. The novel then follows Amir's journey as he grows up, moves to America, and tries to come to terms with his past actions. When Amir returns to Afghanistan as an adult, he must confront his guilt and make amends for his past mistakes. Throughout the story, Hosseini explores themes of redemption, betrayal, and the power of friendship. He also sheds light on the cultural and historical context of Afghanistan, including the impact of the Soviet invasion, the rise of the Taliban, and the mass exodus of Afghan refugees to the United States. Overall, "The Kite Runner" is a poignant and powerful story about personal growth, forgiveness, and the human experience. It was adapted into a film in 2007.

Author creates atmosphere that is tasteable. Imagery superb and action moves at a great pace. Highly readable. Once I had read it, I went in search for everyhing else Hosseini has published.

~~~Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If the book you order states HEAVY or OVERSIZE in the description, there will likely need be an additional shipping fee charged if you have chosen the PRIORITY MAIL option (this charge will vary from $1 to $15 depending on the final weight of the package and your shipping location, but will most likely be only $2-$4, and will not exceed $15).
If you would prefer to be contacted with the exact amount prior to shipping PLEASE tell us so in the order, if there is no message to that effect we will assume you want the book as quickly as possible and we will ship immediately - as that is what our customers have overwhelmingly requested.
In absence of a note to the contrary your order constitutes authorization for full payment of the Actual shipping charge. California customers must be charged 8.25% State Sales Tax (calculated on book price prior to shipping) which will be added to the total.
Foreign orders for books priced US$94 or more will only be shipped via Parcel Post, which will be around US$19-24 for Surface and near US$22-29.00 for Air.
