Sobre este artículo

Atchison, Kansas: E. W. Howe. First Edition . Soft cover. Good/No Dust Jacket. Edgar Watson Howe (1853 - 1937) was an American novelist and newspaper and magazine editor in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He fought for the Union in the Civil War and established a newspaper Bethany, Missouri to advocate his cause. Following successful, but short lived, endeavors operating newspapers in Colorado and Nebraska, Howe established "The Globe" in Atchison, Kansas in 1877 (Now the "Atchison Daily Globe"). He is perhaps best known, however, for "E. W. Howe's Monthly" (1911 - 1913), a periodical in which he was the sole writer (though freely and frequently quoting the writings of others), and one in which he would pontificate his political view and thoughts on the news of the day. An excellent source of additional information can be found in "A Critical Review of E. W. Howe's Monthly" a master's thesis by Della Josephine Heckert of Kansas State College, Pittsburg, Kansas (1961). Extant copies of the Monthly are scarce, and only a handful are found in libraries using WorldCat. Eight issues, each being 64 pages saddle stapled into paper wrap covers. Some of the covers show chips and small paper loss. There is some age toning to a few, as well as penciled notes and scribbles. All text on covers remains intact, and all eight issues are tight. Contents are clean and generally in very good condition.
