First published in 1926, the author roamed the countrysides and photographed the pictures which adorned the walls of our early manor houses. Included are picture panels from 9 houses, frescoes from 30 more, the great majority of which have now crumbled into decay. A special new feature are the wall stencils from the 1800 Drovers Tavern which is a part of The American Life Foundation's Old Village Preservation Project and which is sponsored by the Foundation which promotes this Series of Visual Art Classics.
