Fill title: The Early Ecclesiastical History of Dewsbury in the West-Riding of the County of York: Including a Sketch of the Introduction of Christianity into Northumbria. To which are added, with notes, Dr. Whitaker's Account of Dewsbury from his "Loidis and Elmete"; and his Dissertation on the 'Origin and Progress of Domestic Architecture'; from his "History of Whalley"; and An Account of the Savile Family of Lupset, Thornhill, and Howley Clean dark brown covers with gilt lettering on the spine and blind decoration on the front and rear, lightly rubbed on spine-ends and pages. Small bookseller's label close to lower edge on insde of front cover (James Miles, Leeds). Bequest bookplate also in inside of rear cover. Black and white frontis and plate and a few vignette illustrations. Reference number hand-written on frontis. No dust jacket, as published. Stamps for Halifax Antiquarian Society and "Withdrawn" stamp on front end-papers and prelims. Pages of main text and plates (including reverse of plates) are free from stamps.
