Sobre este artículo

Devizes: George Simpson & Co., 1923., 1923. Folio. 204 pp. Illustrated with 53 plates including a fold-out site map. Bound in the original blue cloth. Tipped onto the front free endpaper is a 15 line written note to Sir Arthur Keith which reads: "Feb. 12 1924 | Dear Sir ArthurKeith | I am sending herewith a copy of the | published account of the | All Cannings Cross Site, | which we hope you will | kindly accept as a token | of our gratitude for the | help you gave in| reporting on the humna | remains. | Believe m | yours very truly | M. E. Cunnington." Arthur Keith's report is found on pages 41 - 42 of the book. Sir Arthur Keith (February 5, 1866 January 7, 1955) was a Scottish anatomist and anthropologist, who became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Hunterian Professor and conservator of the Hunterian Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons in London (not to be confused with the Hunterian Museum Glasgow Scotland; the two were founded by brothers). A leading figure in the study of human fossils, he became President of the Royal Anthropological Institute. The latter role stimulated his interest in the subject of human evolution, leading to the publication of his book A New Theory of Human Evolution, in which he supported the idea of group selection. A 1" tear at the bottom of the front spinal gutter and some wear at the extremities, else a tight very good book.. Inscribed by Author(s). 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket.
