Everest in 1953--their exploration of the Barun Valley in the Himalayas with the New Zealand Alpine Club in 1954. Hardcover small 4to has intense blue cloth-covered boards decorated in gilt to front, gilt lettering to spine, in 70 pages of text followed by 48 pages containing photogravure illustrations taken by the team. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, undated (c. 1955), this book is from a single sportsman's library, & he has pasted a triple exposure print of himself in a mountain in San Diego County inside the front cover from 1952/53; his name & address appears in red pen on facing page (ffep). Otherwise, the book is Near Fine: completely clean & unmarked, with modest tanning, heavier to edges & endpapers.Binding strong & straight, pages creamy white. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $5.00 price intact) is VG: bright & colorful with mild chipping to corners & both ends of spine, light soil, spine tanning, a short tear at top edge of front cover, & rubbing to extremities; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
