Sobre este artículo

New York: Basic Books, 1965. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. First American edition from British sheets. Edited by Ruth First. Foreword by Ahmed Ben Bella. Introduction by Oliver Tambo. Small sticker shadow on front fly, paperclip offsetting on a few pages else near fine in fine dust jacket. George M. Houser and Jean Houser's copy signed: "Jean & George Houser" in Jean's hand, with pencil underlining and scoring on a few dozen pages of text. George M. Houser was an American Methodist minister and an important Civil Rights activist who advocated for the independence of nations in Africa, and cofounder of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) in 1942 (along with James Farmer and Bernice Fisher), and served on the staff of the Fellowship of Reconciliation during the 1940's and 1950's. Houser also helped found in 1953 the American Committee on Africa (ACOA); from 1955-1981, he served as executive director of the ACOA and he also was executive director of The Africa Fund from 1966-1981. A nice association copy of an elusive and early Nelson Mandela publication in the United States.
