London: Various Publishers, 1851-87. Zoe Thomson was the daughter of James Henry & Rhalou Skene. Her father was an author, traveller and British Consul at Aleppo from March 1855 to 1880. He published one book; "Anadol: the Last Home of the Faithful and The Frontier Lands of the Christian and the Turk, Comprising Travel in the Regions of the Lower Danube in 1850 and 1851." She married William Thomson in 1855, the same year he became a provost at Oxford. William Thompson had a variety of interests aside from theology. He was made fellow of the Royal Society and the Royal Geographical Society. He also wrote a very popular Outline of the Laws of Thought (1842). In December 1861 he became Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol, and within a year he was elevated to Archbishop of York. First editions. Nine publications in one octavo volume. At the beginning there is a typed general title “Pamphlets Presented by Their Authors to Zoe Thomson". Modern half calf with gilt spine lettering and decoration. Text seems to be complete (an early pre-publication proof and a different setting to the published work which was laid out over 141 pages [see the copy presented to Queen Victoria in December 1870]).
