A beautifully illustrated first edition dedicated to the 'relics of elegance and harmony' found in early twentieth century Edinburgh. The first edition of this work from British journalist James Bone, the author of three further travel books, one about Glasgow, and two about London. Illustrated throughout with full plate and vignette illustrations from Hanslip Fletcher, an etcher, illustrator and painter specialising in architectural studies of London and elsewhere, with many of these works held by the British Museum. With a further eleven tipped in plates. Collated, complete. With a contemporary inscription, dated Christmas 1911, to the half title. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Discolouration to tail of front board, with bumping to spine head and tail. Contemporary inscription to half title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
