Original quarter black morocco-backed Edward Bawden-designed patterned boards. Top edge gilt. Book designed by John & Griselda Lewis. Printed and bound by the Scolar Press. Printed on Glastonbury Book Antique Laid 120gsm. Set in 12/14 point Monotype Modern Extended and printed by offset litho. Publisher's original orange slip-case. An important work on Edward Bawden. Colour and b & w illustrations. Contains an original colour lithograph "Nekayah, the Prince and Imlac in Cairo' (from 'The History of Rasselas, Prince of Abyssinia' by Samuel Johnson.) drawn in four colours and printed in an edition of 200 by the Curwen Studio titled, numbered and signed in pencil at foot by Edward Bawden and protected in a separate printed portfolio that is housed in the slip-case. A very fine copy in a near fine slightly marked slip-case. A lovely copy. Photographs/scans available upon request.
