Numbered and signed by author on a pastedown plate on the front pastedown endpaper. Only the second book to be written about Edward Troye, one of America's foremost equine painters. Documents American horse racing between 1820 and 1843, when 21 engravings of Troye's work appeared in the Americdan Turf Register. First half of the book presents the 21 engravings. Second half presents 84 full page reproductions of Troye paintings. Frontis with tissue guard. Marble design endpapers. Brown leather-like coverboards with colour pastedown and gilt lettering. Ribbon marker. Foreward by Edward L. Bowen. TIght binding. No chips, tears, creases or written inscriptions. Very hard to find book. Index + Bibliography. Size: Sm 4to (9" to 11")
