Illustrated with 32 illustrations, of which 4 are in color, Constance Baikie.. Ownership name of C. Sumner Greene, the architect, on the front free endpaper. Laid-in is an obituary of his son, Thomas Gordon Greene. The color frontispiece is from a papyrus illustration of Osiris in his shrine.
Baikie is considered an expert in Egyptian papyri. This book explores the history of papyrus as a writing material, as well as hunting for and collecting Egyptian papyri.
