New York: Unpublished, 1963. LP Record in Jacket. Good/Fine (replacement). 12.25" x 12.25. This impossibly scarce unpublished recording (an in-concert acetate AKA lacquer disc) documents the premiere performance of noted Hollywood film composer Laurence Rosenthal's James Joyce song cycle - as performed by soprano Norma Marder, with the composer (also a quite remarkable performing musician, as evidenced here) at the piano. CONDITION: This acetate disc (the songs taking up only one side, the other blank) is noisy throughout (typical as the medium ages), but Rosenthal's remarkable music is not obscured (and there are no skips). Despite several cleanings on a professional machine, the surface has retained some faint smudges. This impossibly scarce recording is now nestled in an audiophile-quality inner sleeve, in a plain black record jacket and a strong mylar outer sleeve. NOTE: acetate discs are not flexible like vinyl and are therefore quite fragile. Securely packed and promptly shipped, domestically (USA) and internationally.
